We've had lots of great suggestions for websites which can help you along the #local4lent challenge. Keep sending us your suggestions on Twitter or Facebook and we'll add them onto our list. This challenge can be convenient too, especially for those farms who deliver produce - what a great service!

Please note we haven't tried out all these services but they have been recommended by people who love shopping local.

This is a great campaign! "Love Your Local Market is a Call to Action to create more of a buzz about the UK market scene and in 2012, its first year over 400 markets took part in order to promote and highlight their offer. Markets are also a great way to encourage new start-ups and last year 2,000 pitches were created for new traders." http://loveyourlocalmarket.org.uk/

Buy Local Food was recommended to us through a Beekeeper on Twitter! "BigBarn's mission is to reverse the trend by reconnecting consumers with their local producers, direct, or through local retailers, and encourage local trade. Giving farmers a better deal and consumers fresher, cheaper, accountable food."  http://www.bigbarn.co.uk/

"Eat the Seasons aims to promote an understanding of food seasons. Each week we focus on one food, which is currently in season, and share enlightening facts, useful tips and enticing recipe ideas picked from the web and our favourite books." http://bit.ly/13EHnF9

Mumsnet had 'Food February' and we found this useful page of links to farmers markets and independent shops. Mostly are down south with a few featuring from Manchester and Blackpool but there are some for Scotland too. Definitely worth a look! http://bit.ly/167Lvxh

We've been chatting to these great people on Twitter. "Ribble Farm Fare, based in Longridge, Lancashire, is a family run business specialising in fruit and vegetables. Roger and Richard Coulston successfully run the business, along with their fully committed management team and 90 strong workforce." http://www.ribblefarmfare.co.uk/Produce

Can't believe we've not added Paganum before now! They are a great company who supply quality produce from small family run farms. So if you're doing the challenge but struggling due to lack of a local butchers then look no further. http://www.paganum.co.uk/

So if you want some proper tasty food on the go or would like to know about food festivals and events 'Up North' then Northern StrEats is the place to go! Follow them on Twitter for foodie updates and event info.

We met Out of Yorkshire on Twitter when looking for oats! A bit about them: "Out of Yorkshire is an online marketplace for independent suppliers based in Yorkshire. We’re passionate about supporting small independent businesses and helping them grow." http://www.outofyorkshire.co.uk/

FoodLink North West is a great project which we've been following for a while and the resources on their website are really useful. In their own words: "The Foodlink Northwest project encompasses the whole of the field to fork activities of the local food chain in the Northwest and represents a partnership of interests with a passion for our region’s locally produced foods." http://www.foodlinknw.org/

We love Swillington Farm, they had a stall at our #local4lent event in 2012 and we're sampling delicious sausages. They deliver organic meat boxes in the Yorkshire area. http://bit.ly/Y9gNfl

Green Pasture Farms is a collective of traditional family farms in the North Lancashire area of Pendle. We pride ourselves on being Ethical, Ecological and Economical.

We discovered these guys on Twitter. They can deliver produce from Todmorden Market straight to your door. http://www.marketdelivered.co.uk/market-produce/

Totally Locally is a great campaign which encourages you to discover the great local independent shops and businesses where you live. They even have a free kit so you can launch the Totally Locally campaign in your town. http://totally-locally.co.uk/

We think this website is great, with an interactive map showcasing a wealth of local businesses. In their words: We love food and especially love discovering local, artisan producers of quality food from our own community. Why shop with the multinationals when you can shop local. Find what you can get from your local county and keep your money where it belongs i.e. in your community! http://foodietrail.net/

Another Twitter recommendation: The Riverford box scheme began when Guy Watson started delivering vegetables locally to 30 friends in Devon. We now deliver around 40,000 boxes a week to homes around the UK from our regional farms. http://www.riverford.co.uk/

We discovered this website on Twitter because they stock some of our fave products like the delicious Harrogate Preserves and Lottie Shaw'shttp://www.deluxebite.com/

This is a great website for transforming your ideas on how much you consume and the importance of thinking before buying. http://www.takepart.com/

This website collates some great info on what's happening to make this an eco-friendly world. http://inhabitat.com/about/ Lots of interesting things to buy/make like an LED desk lamp made out of recycled egg cartons: http://tiny.cc/iul6ew
